Digitizing and Why You
need it?
Simply put, Embroidery Digitizing is
the process of turning your artwork
into a program that Embroidery
Machines can understand and run, but
it is so much more! There is an old
saying that if the digitizing isn't
good the design never will be! It is
more true than the words alone can
say. A good design can bring life
into stitches.

Why
Does Embroidery Digitizing
cost so much?
Getting Embroidery
Digitizing right takes years
of study In fact it is an
art form that requires lots
of training and practice. It
is not just as easy as
creating shapes that reflect
the artwork. Once you
transfer the image into
embroidery stitches you are
working on a whole new
level. Think about trying to
paint the Mona Lisa with
string! That is an
exaggeration for sure but it
illustrates the point. With
embroidery there are
multiple elements to deal
with including the tension
each stitch puts on the
other, the order in which
the design is stitched and
the way levels of embroidery
blend into each other.
Everything affects
everything else in an
embroidery design.
Can't a computer do
Embroidery Digitizing?
Yes and No! there are
several Automatic Digitizing
Softwares on the market. We
have used the versions
currently produced by Wilcom
and Datastitch and while
they do indeed produce
designs that CAN run well on
embroidery machines however,
they simply do not have the
sophistication to take
embroidery to the next
level. There is a human
element in embroidery
digitizing that adds a gleam
to an animals eye or a
softness to tree branches
and leaves. As good as
computers are they cannot
duplicate that. Not yet
anyway!
What do you digitize
overseas? Isn't it cheaper
to hire a local guy!.
Unlike other computer
programming, digitizing is
still a rare skill and not
one which can be picked up
by someone in a few months.
The obvious reason that we
use the services of a true
professional digitizing
bureau who have studied
embroidery and the art of
embroidery digitizing for
more than a decade and are
skilled craftsman as
compared to someone who is a
trainee locally. The
difference in the designs is
clear.
